Case Study

Customer: Kelly Norman for City Cruises London

Floating Office PontoonWe were approached by Kelly Norman to tender for the internal fit out of a new floating office pontoon for the main offices of City Cruses based on the Thames by London Bridge.

An unusual project but we like nothing more than a challenge and leapt at the chance to prove nothing is impossible.

Our tender was successful and Paul Hankin from Kelly Norman placed the order with us reassured that we were a professional company with the experience and ability to get the job done and done right.

The scheme comprised a fully fitted out lower deck double office with meeting room and kitchen which would site under the water line.

Floating Office below deckThis area was complete with dry lining, stud partitioning, suspended ceilings, flooring and full height glazing to form a Meeting Room with full height door and detailed frosted filming.

The top deck section included two office pods with toilets, a second kitchen and partitioned offices. The movement of the pontoon in the water meant we need to pay special attention to the way we constructed each element. Dealing and liaising closely with Paul on a daily basis meant every aspect could be discussed to ensure our fit out would work with the pontoons structure.

Weighing over 140 tons the pontoon was lowered into the water at Rainham and towed to its final position on the Thames where it has been successfully commissioned and is now a fully functioning working office.

Safety port-hole doorWe are particularly proud of this project due to the complexity and thought process behind the finished product.

Paul Hankin of “Kelly Norman” said -
